Collection Information

Windmill Farms provides curbside trash and recycling services to District residents through a contract with Community Waste Disposal. The fees are included on your District water bill.

Residents are supplied with one 96-gallon roll-out container and one 18-gallon recycling bin. Two additional recycling bins are available to residents at no additional charge by contacting https://communitywastedisposal.com/find-my-city/windmill-farms/Community Waste Disposal at 972-392-9300, Option 2.

Service Day: Wednesday

Service Information

Place trash and recycling containers at the curb the evening prior to pick-up. Please return them to their storage area by the end of the pick-up day.

Pickup Day

The scheduled pickup day for both trash and recyclables is Wednesday. Items should be placed at curbside before 7:00 am.

Missed Pickups

Report missed trash/recycling and request bulk item collection to the removal service. To speak to a customer service representative at, call 972-392-9300.

Where To Place Items for Pickup

General Information

Up to 5 bags of trash outside of the container will be accepted.

The container should be placed at the edge of the driveway and road with the lid COMPLETELY CLOSED and the handle facing the residence.

Parked vehicles and other obstacles (i.e., gas meters, fences, electrical boxes, cable boxes, etc.) should be at least 2 feet from the trash cart.

Carts and recycling containers should be returned to their storage areas within 24 hours following the scheduled pickup.

Hazardous Waste & Electronics

CWD’s Door-side Collection program encourages safe, easy, and responsible disposal of approved hazardous waste and electronics. Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) & Used Electronics collection day is the first Wednesday of the month. To schedule, please call no later than the 15th of the month prior.

Items accepted via the HHW & Used Electronics Door-side Collection program include poison, solvent, oil-based and latex paint, aerosols, used motor oil, auto batteries, fluorescent tubes, and televisions.

How to Prepare for Your HHW & Used Electronics Collection

  1. Call CWD at 972.392.9300/Option 2, at least two weeks in advance.
  2. CWD will mail you a collection kit.
  3. Assemble your HHW according to the instructions provided.
  4. Place your HHW at your doorstep, where CWD will pick it up.

Bags must be placed near your entrance door, garage, or another area IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME. Do NOT place HHW curbside. Please ensure your HHW is visible from the street.

  • Do not overfill the bag.
  • Only the bag provided to you may be used.
  • Bag must be closed securely.
  • Items outside the bag must be placed in a cardboard box.
  • Do not drag the bag.
  • Pack the bag where it will be placed for collection and place all electronics, auto batteries and fluorescent tubes outside the bag.
  • Wrap multiple fluorescent tubes together with tape. If available, use the original packaging to hold the tubes and stand them up to prevent breakage.
  • Do not fill with pool chemicals as this can start a fire.

Recycling

General Information Residents are provided with one 18- gallon recycling bin and can request two additional bins at no cost by calling Inframark at 469-762-3099.

Pickups are made on Wednesdays as part of the regular trash collection schedule. Items should be placed at curbside by 7:00 am.

Recyclable materials do not need to be sorted, just placed in the recycle bin. Recyclable items include:

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Plastic (#1, #5, and #7)
  • Glass
  • Aluminum, tin and steel cans

Heavy Trash​ & Yard Waste

In addition to trash placed in containers, the collection service will remove up to 4 cubic yards of brush and/or bulky waste placed near the collection container as part of its weekly collection. Call 972-392-9300 to schedule service.

Accepted Items Kitchen appliances, water heaters, washing machines, dryers, furniture, toys (must be tagged as "bulk items"), yard tools (must be tagged as "bulk items"), refrigerators (refrigerant must be removed and certified with a tag on the appliance.)

Prohibited Items We are unable to collect bags or boxes with regular household trash, construction or remodeling debris, tree limbs or trunks, yard trimmings, dead animals, fence material, and any hazardous waste such as paint, motor oil, pool chemicals, medical waste including syringes, etc.

Yard Waste In addition to collecting solid waste placed within the trash containers provided, Community Waste Disposal will collect up to 4 cubic yards of brush and/or bulky waste.

Yard waste must be cut down to 4’ lengths and bundled for pickup.

Special Pickups

Special pickup can be arranged for collection of items that do not qualify as accepted bulk items or exceed the weekly collection volume limits.

Call 972-392-9300 by noon Friday to schedule a collection on a Saturday.

Special collections are subject to an additional fee. Inquire about costs prior to scheduling a pickup.
